Professor Paolo Martínez de Anguita is an expert in the intersection of the relationship between forests and poverty in Spain and developing countries. His work centers on developing political and economic instruments for nature conservation, drawing on tools from environmental and forest policy, as well as ecological economics to promote sustainable development and care for creation. He has held academic positions at several universities, including the Catholic University of Ávila and Rey Juan Carlos University, and has served as a visiting professor at New York University, Yale University and the University of Oxford. Among his key initiatives, Professor Martínez de Anguita founded the Ibero-American Network of Payments for Environmental Services, which connects leading scholars across Latin America to advance research and practice in ecosystem service valuation. In 2014, he also launched LandsCare, a pioneering organization that leverages mobile technology to highlight the ecological value and beauty of rural landscapes, supporting both landowners and rural tourism. Since 2018, he has served as coordinator of the Laudato Si’ Foundation, where he leads innovative projects in environmental sustainability and rural development inspired by the principles of integral ecology.
