Catholic Institute of Technology Research Competition
“Inspiring Exploration of Divine Creation”
As a Catholic research university, Catholic Institute of Technology understands the importance of original research work that gives greater insight into the mystery of God’s Creation. It is for this reason that we are excited to invite all high school students to compete in CatholicTech’s inaugural Research Competition for a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to visit CatholicTech’s campus in Castel Gandolfo, Italy. The winner’s original research work will also be featured in CatholicTech’s newsletter and social media, which reaches thousands of people interested in ethical scientific research. Applications are due November 15, 2024, and results will be announced in February 2025.
To participate, all applicants must submit the following documents:
- A research report describing an original, independent research project that meets all eligibility requirements. Research conducted during any year of high school is eligible for CatholicTech’s Research Competition.
- Three types of recommendations, including an educator reference, a project reference, and all relevant high school transcripts.
- Test scores (SAT or ACT)
By early February, finalists will be notified to complete two virtual interviews. The first will be a research presentation for CatholicTech faculty, followed by a Q&A session to assess the student’s knowledge of his or her research and the broader research field. The second will be with an ethicist specializing in the student’s chosen research field, who will assess the student’s understanding of the moral and ethical implications of his or her work. Finalists will receive more detailed information before the interviews take place.
