Ethics, Integral Ecology and Sustainabilty (3 cr)
Description
This course explores the relationship between ethics, ecology, and sustainability. It examines anti-anthropocentric and anthropocentric theories of ecology, and discusses the importance of avoiding common pitfalls in ecological discourse. The course draws upon the social doctrine of the Church and other magisterium documents to examine the themes, actors, objectives, means, and challenges of ecology. It also explores the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Church’s participation and contribution to the 2030 Agenda. The course aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the ethical dimensions of environmental issues and to enable them to contribute to efforts to build a more sustainable future.
