Philosophy

About the Discipline

Every student at CatholicTech takes four core Philosophy courses (one each year) in which they trace the roots of modern scientific and ethical thought, starting with the ancient tradition in Plato’s Republic and Aristotle’s The Nicomachean Ethics and continuing towards modern works such as Josef Pieper’s Leisure the Basis of Culture. In studying the history of philosophy, ethics, and the philosophy of science, students gain an understanding of humanity’s historical relationship with science and the world surrounding us. Every student graduates with a minor in Philosophy.
