Boston and Rome Partnership in Declaration of Intent
Mayors of Rome and Boston have agreed to have a Declaration of Intent, establishing a cultural and economic partnership between the two cities. The goal of this document is to strengthen the already existing bond between the two and increase tourism and trade exchange.
In this Declaration of Intent, the cities have outlined commitments to continue to develop collaborations, including marketing to residents through travel and tourism for cultural exchange, economic programs to promote the growth of companies of each city, especially in climate tech innovation, and exchanges in area of business, trade, culture, healthcare, education, medical research, technological advancements, and tourism.
This formal partnership with Rome will continue to grow Boston’s already vibrant business community to include more cultural institutions, historical landmarks, and marketplaces. “Downton Boston wouldn’t be what it is without cultural exchange and featuring the latest innovative trends and technologies from around the world on our streets,” said President of the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District, Michael Nichols.
One of the great links that already exists between Boston and Rome is the fact that both cities were vital in history to the founding of both America and Italy. As Mayor Michelle Wu of Boston said, “Boston and Rome are cradles of history and culture, and our partnership will strengthen both cities in continuing to make history for a brighter future.”
