The First of Many Semesters: CatholicTech Reflects on Past Accomplishments and Future Goals
With just three weeks left until the end of classes, members of Catholic Institute of Technology have much for which to be thankful, hopeful, and proud. Forming an R1 Research University grounded in the Faith is no small task, yet with the commitment of like-minded students, faculty, staff, and generous donors, CatholicTech has taken concrete steps towards its ultimate goal.
Thanks to donor support, CatholicTech has been able to provide its inaugural class with ample scholarship opportunities, purchase a new gymnasium, host various events, entertain visits from bishops and cardinals, and begin renovation projects on our facilities and grounds.
Currently in development is CatholicTech’s Accelerator Program, which offers both students and aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to realize their potential by providing them with the environment necessary to bring their ideas to life. Through this program, some of CatholicTech’s students have commenced work on personal projects in the energy transfer and storage field. It is thanks to donor generosity that we are able to continue funding these endeavors, and to the imagination of our students that we have creative endeavors to fund.
CatholicTech is moving forward with some important developments and projects in its academic programs. The school has recently finalized plans and purchases for its Virtual Reality Lab experiments and accompanying VR headsets. All lab components in students’ upcoming Physics I and II courses will be conducted in VR labs that provide a full range of physics experiments that simulate important real-world factors and variables. Additionally, in the coming months, CatholicTech’s Mechanical Engineering majors will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on, extracurricular project—transforming a manual, gas-powered car into a fully electric vehicle.
If you are interested in participating in CatholicTech’s mission to bridge the divide between Faith and science, and from the next generation of saints, scholars, and scientists, we ask that you prayerfully consider making a donation to support our initiatives here on campus. Please keep CatholicTech in your prayers as we work to build our community on campus and revive the Church’s long-standing legacy as a leader in science and technology.
