A Conversation with the Holy Father

As the chronicles of CatholicTech continue, one recent conversation in Castel Gandolfo graced our community with excitement and hope. This past week, our co-founder, William Haughey, had the incredible honor of personally meeting His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. This exchange occurred in a square in Albano, a mere walk from where our campus stands as a beacon of faith and innovation. Holding a 3D-printed statue of Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, William shared the mission that drives us at CatholicTech: To form saints, scholars, and scientists who will lead the Church into the future of STEM. The presence of His Holiness was warm and intentional, accompanied by a sincere smile. At the end of the conversation, the statue of Our Lady was gifted to the Holy Father as an expression of CatholicTech’s support of the Holy Pontiff.

After leading the Angelus prayer, Pope Leo XIV gave a heartfelt shoutout to our community, proclaiming before the gathered faithful:

“I greet the students, faculty, and staff of the Catholic Institute of Technology, which is located right here in Castel Gandolfo.”

This moment marks a powerful Papal presence in Castel Gandolfo and solidifies the collaboration between faith and science that CatholicTech has created. We are deeply grateful to our Holy Father for his gift of time and acknowledgment, and for the great works he has already accomplished for Catholics worldwide. Please join us in continuing to pray for the ongoing mission of CatholicTech and for our spiritual shepherd, Pope Leo XIV!
