Campus Life Update

CatholicTech campus became a bit brighter when our Cardinal Newman Fellows and interns returned from their summer break escapades. Celebrating a Saturday evening in style, CatholicTech members enjoyed an aperitivo and gelato at a favorite cafe in town. The main piazza of Castel Gandolfo, Piazza della Libertà, was animated by live music and crowds of happy listeners. The summer months often bring more people to town, and it’s a joy to see everyone experiencing the cuisine and culture in this beautiful little Italian town.

On Sunday, one student completed a mini-pilgrimage to meaningful spots in Rome, in honor of the Feasts of Saints Peter and Paul. The student began this excursion at Abbazia delle Tre Fontane, a Trappist Abbey home to the Cistercian monks, or Trappists. This spot, now a tourist attraction for Catholics, was once a breeding ground for sainthood. Saint Paul became a martyr as he was beheaded near this Holy ground. The Trappist monks are careful stewards of the place, caring for the shrine and selling their monastic-made goods in a little shop. The student also ventured over to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls and walked through the Holy Door. This Church holds incredible beauty and items of spiritual value, such as the chains that shackled St. Paul during his time as a prisoner.

We thank you for joining us and look forward to sharing more of the adventures that await us here at CatholicTech!
