Ave Maria! Traditionally, the month of May is dedicated to honoring Mary the Blessed Mother of Jesus. Our Lady Seat of Wisdom is the Patroness of CatholicTech. The title is derived from Mary’s loving cradling of her Son, the infant Jesus, Wisdom Incarnate. This Sunday, the whole of CatholicTech gathered to honor Mary with a May crowning. After Mass, we processed along a wooded path to our hundred-year-old marble statue of Our Lady Seat of Wisdom. Our choir sang hymns dedicated to Mary as one member clambered up a ladder to place the pink-flowered wreath atop her head.

A group from CatholicTech also attended Mass at the Basilica di Santa Sabina in Rome this week. The ornate church is lined with towering columns and wide windows that allow streams of sunlight to dapple the floor. Santa Sabina is the oldest Dominican Basilica honoring a saint, and Saint Sabina is worthy of its beauty and grandeur. She converted to Christianity after encountering the fervent faith of her slave, and later paid the ultimate price for her own Faith with her martyrdom.

While some of our community stayed local this week, others ventured over to Paris, the City of Light. Our co-founder William Haughey was joined by CatholicTech board member Father Eric Cadin in the exploration of the austere Notre Dame Cathedral.

During this month dedicated to our Blessed Mother, let us ask for her intercession and honor her. Our prayer for you is, in the words of Saint Padre Pio, “May the Mother of Jesus and our Mother always smile on your spirit, obtaining for it, from her Most Holy Son, every heavenly blessing.”
