Midterm Adventures

Campus was bustling this week with activities and studying. At the end of last week, Cardinal Newman Fellow Mary Anne Holler presented her Capstone Project to the academic board and the community. After months of research and development, Mary created a Fertility Awareness Method–based cycle-tracking app designed to support women with gynecological conditions.
The following day, a group took an exciting trip to the medieval town of Assisi to celebrate the betrothal of two CatholicTech Fellows who will be getting married this summer! The betrothal rite is a traditional blessing of a couple during their engagement as they prepare for marriage. This intimate service took place Saturday afternoon in a side chapel of the Cathedral of San Rufino.
The week began with students watching the Super Bowl late Sunday night into Monday morning. The party was filled with laughter and American-style wings. After the festivities, it was back to work as most students headed into the bulk of their midterms. Still, there was room for some fun, with study groups, late-night gelato runs into town, and tea breaks along the way. Everyone is looking forward to a restful weekend after a busy stretch.
This weekend in Italy also marks the beginning of Carnevale, a time of festivity and celebration before Lent. Castel Gandolfo will host a variety of events, including parades and lakeside markets. We look forward to sharing the students’ adventures with you next week!
