St. Patrick’s Day on Campus

Campus Life Update
With Saint Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, the feast of one of our patron saints, CatholicTech has had quite the busy time this week. Saturday, we hosted our annual St. Patrick’s day party, complete with a live band. Many of the people of Castel Gandolfo came down to enjoy the festivities, as well as some college students from the other Catholic colleges in Rome. After the party was over, all the boys went to an Irish pub in Albano to truly enjoy the Irish spirit of St. Patrick.
This year is also the 800th anniversary of the canonization of St. Francis of Assisi, and since there were no classes on Tuesday for St. Patrick’s day, we took the opportunity to go to Assisi to see the bones of St. Francis. It was the first time since his death that his remains were visible for public viewing, so tickets were sold out weeks in advance. After Monday afternoon classes, we took the train toward Assisi;because of the day off on Tuesday, we were able to spend the night in Foligno, just outside of Assisi, and have a leisurely day in Assisi the next day after visiting St. Francis’s tomb.
