Campus Life Update

Stepping into sunny June, CatholicTech has welcomed the summer months by visiting one of Italy’s best-known destinations. A few hours riding a scenic train route brought students to the Amalfi coast. Known for its spectacular beaches and dramatic cliffs, delicious pastas and fresh limoncello, it’s no surprise it’s known by some as the Divine Coast.

Our group spent their weekend at the coast in the town of Vico Equense, near Sorrento. This charming cliff-side village is filled with billowing linens blown by the cool breeze, and colorful arrays of sailboats lie clustered in the cove below. Students took the opportunity to rest, enjoying slow days filled with sun and the sounds of passing boats. The real highlight of the trip, however, was the proposal and engagement of two CatholicTech students, followed, of course, by joyous celebration! Meanwhile, back on campus, other members of the community made a trip to the famous Strawberry Festival in nearby Nemi. This year marked the one hundredth anniversary of the festival, and many strawberry tarts and delicate desserts were enjoyed.

Today the students celebrated their last day of classes, and now they begin work on their final exams before heading into their summer plans. As this inaugural year of the Catholic Institute of Technology comes to a close, we are deeply grateful for the many gifts and opportunities of this special year.
