Campus Life Update

Since the start of Lent, our students have been finding the time to serve our community and bond with one another. Ash Wednesday was observed as a quiet day; aside from classes, it was a day of reflection and fasting for the student body to prepare for the Lenten season.

Saturday, some of the students started preparing for the spring and took the time to help the CatholicTech community. Turning their attention to our expansive grounds, they began to clear the tennis courts of the leaves and moss which had grown in the winter months. While it may be an arduous task, once it is done it will be well worth the effort.

The women of CatholicTech had a gathering of prayer, chocolate, and candle painting on Monday evening to take a break from the busyness of finishing assignments and exams. After grabbing dinner from the dining hall, they enjoyed a well-deserved rest and quality time at the start of the week.

On Friday and Saturday night, as part of an Italian assignment, our students put the kitchen to use by learning and cooking different Italian dishes, and recorded themselves to make a video for class, teaching their classmates how to make the dish. The dishes covered a wide variety of Italian pastas, from Pasta all’Amatriciana to Cacio e Pepe. By learning how to make these local recipes, they also discovered that the small differences in pasta shapes and sauces carry deep culinary significance in Italian culture.
